John Gamble started in Bump-to-Pass at Stateline Speedway in 1996, then worked up through Hobby Stocks and Street Stocks. He won the 2000 AARA Sportsman Street Stock title at Spokane, built a Northwest Late Model that winter, and was 2001 Rookie of the Year. He won the Idaho 200 at Stateline in 2001 and 2002, placed third in Spokane's 2002 Season Championship Race, and worked as a jack man and tire changer for the Monaco Enterprises Winston West team.
