Hey race fans, buckle up because the 2023 Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway was a thrill ride from start to finish! 🏁
Justin Ashley was the man to beat, clocking an eye-popping 3.746 seconds at 328.14 mph in his Phillips Connect/Toyota dragster. Despite cooler conditions on raceday, Ashley was unfazed. Doug Kalitta and Steve Torrence were hot on his heels, but they couldn’t quite catch up.
Ron Capps was the king of the Funny Car category, securing his 38th No. 1 qualifier with a run of 3.894 seconds at 330.23 mph in his NAPA Auto Parts Toyota GR Supra. J.R. Todd and Matt Hagan rounded out the top three, but Capps was the one to watch.
Greg Anderson was the star in Pro Stock, claiming his first No. 1 position of the season with a time of 6.597 seconds at 205.79 mph. Matt Hartford and Erica Enders were close behind, but Anderson was in a league of his own.
Antron Brown took home the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge in Top Fuel, beating out Brittany Force in the finals. Robert Hight emerged victorious in the Funny Car category, and Erica Enders took the win in Pro Stock.
The eliminations were as intense as ever. In Top Fuel, Ashley was set to face Terry Totten, while Kalitta would go against Clay Millican. In Funny Car, Capps was pitted against Jim Campbell, and Todd would face Dale Creasy Jr. In Pro Stock, Anderson was up against David Cuadra.
The racers were all geared up for what promised to be an epic raceday. With cooler conditions expected, everyone was anticipating some fast and close racing. So, if you missed it, you missed out on some high-octane action!
